Estate Administration
Overview
Our deep experience with estate administration has been recognized by the election of all of the partners of our Private Wealth practice as Fellows of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and by the selection of several of our practice team lawyers in Best Lawyers. Among the many issues that we continually address in the estate administration process are the valuation and distribution of the assets of valuable closely held businesses, including extensive negotiations with the Internal Revenue Service on asset values, administering and interfacing with charities on significant multi-year charitable bequests and pledges, handling of foreign situs assets held by U.S. decedents, disputes with potential creditors sometimes including family creditors, and the preparation of the relevant federal estate tax return including handling any audit of the return.
