Biography

Paul is an associate in the Commercial & Asset-Based Lending and Real Estate practices. He is a member of the Financial Institutions industry team and the firm’s Diversity Committee. Paul represents lenders and borrowers in connection with debt financing transactions. He works with clients on syndicated and single-lender senior credit facilities for cash-flow and asset-based loans, commercial real estate term and construction loan transactions, mezzanine loans, and the origination and servicing of commercial mortgage-backed securities loans.

While at the University of Virginia School of Law, Paul served as programs director for the Virginia Sports and Entertainment Law Journal and treasurer for the Jewish Law Students Association and Latin American Law Organization. He was also a research assistant for professors Joe Fore and Gregory Mitchell, assisting in the creation of the case file for the legal research and writing class.

Experience

  • Represented bank extending term and revolving debt to provide a line of credit to fast food franchisor for future restaurant acquisitions and to refinance existing mortgages on a 30+ property real estate portfolio.

  • Participated in Atlanta Legal Aid Service Council’s “Help-A-Thon” assisting low-income Georgia residents with legal questions ranging from landlord-tenant disputes, adoption, and probate contestations.

  • Represented bank establishing a line of credit for operating capital needs of an IT staffing company.

  • Represented bank in connection with a $17 million refinance of a historic boutique hotel in downtown Charleston, South Carolina.

  • Represented bank in connection with a $25 million acquisition of 240-unit multi-family housing in the metro-Atlanta area.

  • Represented bank in connection with a $25 million acquisition of two office buildings in Charlotte, North Carolina.

  • Represented bank in connection with refinancing multiple shopping centers in Georgia and Florida.

  • Represented bank in facilitating construction loans and refinances for office and residential development in Georgia and Florida.

  • Represented bank in facilitating construction loans for student housing apartments in Knoxville, Tennessee and Carrollton, Georgia.
