Sara Lord Quoted in Law360 Article Titled “Adderall Indictment Shows DOJ Focus on Telehealth Drugs”

AGG Litigation, Government Investigations, and Healthcare partner Sara Lord was quoted in a June 18, 2024, article published by Law360 Healthcare Authority titled “Adderall Indictment Shows DOJ Focus on Telehealth Drugs.”

The article highlighted the recent indictment of two digital health executives over plans to illegally distribute Adderall over the internet. The case demonstrates the U.S. Department of Justice’s increased focus on enforcement of telehealth fraud and diversion of prescription stimulants.

“A case like this — particularly one that is being touted as one of first impression — is kind of a shot across the bow for these online telemedicine companies,” remarked Sara. “I don’t think it’s a coincidence that it involves telemedicine in the mental health space.”

Sara also said that healthcare companies already understand they need robust compliance programs. However, this case illustrates the need to ensure safeguards are evolving as the practice of medicine changes.

“[The case] is kind of a perfect storm of issues that are gaining a lot of attention these days,” she added.
