Matt Wilson Quoted in AJC Article on Financial Consequences of Concert Cancellations From Usher, Other High-Profile Musicians
AGG Entertainment & Sports co-chair Matt Wilson was quoted in an Atlanta Journal-Constitution article discussing the financial consequences of the string of recent last-minute concert cancellations by Usher and other high-profile musicians.
Matt explained that it ultimately boils down to the contract between the artist’s agent and the venue’s promoter, adding that the venue and promoter are typically impacted more significantly than the artist for a cancellation. They lose the money they spent on marketing the show and must recoup the costs of having a dark room for the night.
Matt estimated that the cost of marketing an arena show can range from $10,000 to $100,000.
