Matt Ohm Discusses Updates and Tips for Companies Navigating Complex Immigration Landscape in Global Atlanta

In an article published on July 19, 2024, Global Atlanta highlighted updates and tips for companies navigating the complex immigration landscape that AGG Immigration & Global Mobility attorney Matt Ohm shared during the publication’s Expat Expectations event.

Matt provided guidance on a number of immigration updates, including those related to Department of State visa renewals, U.S. citizenship and immigration service fees, Customs and Border Protection passport checks, Department of Labor green card applications, Immigration and Customs Enforcement record inspections, and concerns associated with specific countries.

One of the major changes that Matt discussed is the cessation of passport stamping at most airports. Instead, travelers must access their electronic I-94 record online, which details their entry status and length of time they are permitted to stay in the U.S.

Matt encouraged all foreign nationals or those who work with foreign nationals to advise them to access their I-94 record as soon as they arrive in the U.S. to make sure it is correct.

“If it’s wrong, if you’re in the wrong status, there’s a chance you may be barred from the U.S. for three or 10 years,” Matt said. “This little piece of paper you can download and print from the internet is crucial.”
