Alan Minsk Quoted in Law360 Discussing Florida Receiving FDA Approval to Import Drugs

On January 5, 2024, AGG Food & Drug co-chair Alan Minsk was quoted in a Law360 article titled “Fla. Becomes 1^st State to Win FDA Approval to Import Drugs.”

FDA recently approved Florida’s proposal to import lower-cost prescription drugs from Canada, making it the first state in the U.S. to secure such authorization as a strategy to cut drug prices.

As other states pursue similar drug-importation programs, Alan told Law360 that it will be critical to watch how Florida and FDA ensure only high-quality products are imported. Florida’s early experience may influence how FDA handles applications from other states.

“Depending on the ‘success’ of the Florida program, FDA might be more amenable to other state programs and will have a sense of expectations,” he said.
