AGG Represents Old Edwards Hospitality Group in Sale to the Whitley Family

Atlanta, July 03, 2024 – Arnall Golden Gregory LLP (AGG) represented Old Edwards Hospitality Group, a prominent hospitality portfolio located in Highlands, North Carolina, in its sale to James and Jessica Whitley.

The deal included luxury hotels Old Edwards Inn and Spa, 200 Main, and Half-Mile Farm, along with restaurants Four65 Woodfire Bistro + Bar and Highlands Burritos. The sale also encompassed properties in nearby Cashiers, North Carolina, including the Old Edwards Club and GlenCove golf courses and the Norton Ridge residential community.

AGG assisted the sellers of Old Edwards Hospitality Group, Art and Angela Williams, in the preparation, negotiation, and evaluation of the documents governing the transaction, which included providing tax and employee benefits advice related to the transaction.

AGG Corporate & Finance partner Tanner D. Ivie led a cross-disciplinary team comprised of Corporate & Finance, Employee Benefits & Executive Compensation, and Tax attorneys to secure a successful outcome for the Williams family. Key contributors to the transaction include partners Douglas A. Smith and Zach D. Wilson, as well as associates Margaret O. Costello, Eunice C. Lim, and Ryan P. Lynn. AGG also partnered with Gregory O. DeBacker and Wade A. Schueneman of Fortson, Bentley & Griffin, who served as counsel to the Williams family in Athens, Georgia.

The transaction closed on June 14, 2024.
