Biography
Steve is of counsel in the International Business practice and the Global Mobility practice. He practices in the area of immigration law with a focus on employment-based immigration and immigration compliance.
Steve focuses his practice on providing proactive, strategic counseling to corporate clientele and foreign nationals with regard to all aspects of employment-based U.S. immigration law. He structures temporary and permanent international transfers of personnel, including professionals, managers and executives, treaty investors/traders, essential workers, persons of extraordinary ability, corporate trainees, and students. Steve prepares and files labor certification applications (under the PERM regulations), immigrant petitions (EB-1 through EB-5), nonimmigrant petitions (e.g., E, H, L, O, P, TN), and visa applications. He provides legal guidance to corporate clients on navigating the complex labor certification recruitment process. He assertively represents the interests of client companies and foreign employees before the U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS), the U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL), and U.S. embassies and consulates abroad.
With significant experience in employment counseling and litigation, Steve advises employers in the increasingly critical (and often overlooked) area of immigration compliance. He prepares comprehensive immigration compliance policies and implements procedures for corporate clients. He conducts in-depth immigration compliance audits, including Form I-9 audits, to ensure corporate compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws. He works with clientele to minimize their exposure to potential immigration-related liability and worksite enforcement actions. Steve conducts training sessions for corporate management and employees on assorted topics pertaining to immigration compliance.
