Biography
Scott is a partner in the Real Estate practice and co-chair of the Retail Real Estate team. He previously served as a member of the Executive Committee.
With decades of experience, Scott advises some of the world’s largest private equity companies; regional, national, and international real estate investment trusts (“REITs”); entrepreneurial and institutional developers; retail property owners; operators; landlords; property managers; and national and international retail and restaurant brands on complex retail and mixed-use real estate matters across the nation. He focuses his practice on retail leasing, acquisitions and dispositions, redevelopment and repositioning projects, financing matters, and day-to-day property management issues for shopping centers, mixed-use developments, and retail portfolios. Clients rely on Scott to help structure, negotiate, and manage sophisticated real estate transactions involving retail centers, outparcel developments, redevelopment strategies, and portfolio operations.
In addition to his substantial leasing practice, Scott has developed a strong reputation for guiding clients through redevelopment and repositioning projects involving existing retail assets, an area where clients value his business-focused perspective and industry experience. He works closely with owners, developers, and operators seeking to modernize retail centers, adapt properties for evolving consumer trends, and enhance the long-term performance of retail and mixed-use projects.

- Represents CAIN Development in lease-up and development of One Beverly Hills.
- Represents mall owners in negotiations of new or amended REA’s with major department stores and other parcel owners in connection with transition of properties from retail only to mixed use. Examples include conversion of vacant department store parcels; parcelization and sale of excess land; sales to for-sale, multi-family property developers; and sales to for-rent, multi-family and active adult community developers.
- Represented mall owner in New York in converting a 250,000 square foot mall anchor lease into a synthetic NNN lease and separate tax parcel for sale to third-party investor purchaser.
- Represented international publicly traded REIT in connection with the lease-up of the multi-billion dollar redevelopments of several “fortress-level” super-regional malls.
- Representing Luxottica of America (Sunglass Hut, LensCrafters, Ray-Ban, Oakley), the world’s leading retailer of eyewear, currently operating more than 1,000 stores in the United States.
- Represented a Fortune 500 consumer goods company in the negotiation of a 1.4 million square foot build to suit regional warehouse and distribution center. The facility is used for the storage and distribution of consumer products and regulated chemicals.
- Led due diligence team for client acquisition of nine super-regional mall portfolio. The portfolio consisted of over 2 million square feet of in-line space and over 30 anchors.
- Led real estate and loan due diligence teams in representing international investment fund manager in the acquisition of super-regional malls throughout the United States.
- Represented The Walt Disney Company in the total redevelopment of Disney Springs [formerly known as Downtown Disney] Orlando, Florida.
- Represented multi-branded, publicly traded footwear and apparel retailers in the leasing and management of their real estate portfolios.
- Represented leading private equity firm in leasing and REIT compliance of multiple office building portfolios
- Represented developer in the development of mixed-use project in Texas, including the sale of a parcel to a major oil and gas company for the relocation of its corporate headquarters.
