Biography
Megan is a partner and co-chair of the Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice. She is also co-chair of the Background Screening industry team and an active member of the Employment practice.
As a business and commercial litigator, Megan has significant jury trial experience. She has represented a wide variety of businesses involved in many types of commercial disputes, with an emphasis on representing employers in claims made under state and federal employment laws and defending companies against claims made under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. With her wide-ranging experience in handling employment matters, Megan routinely counsels clients through various employment issues and disputes and is well versed in handling internal investigations, discrimination claims, wage-and-hour issues, and post-employment competition disputes.
Megan is also a member of the firm’s Economic Development team, where she applies her broad experience to help clients navigate economic incentives and related compliance concerns on transactions across the U.S.
Megan is a past co-chair of the firm’s Women’s Initiative. Currently, she serves on the Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Power and Potential (“GCAPP”) board.
Experience
- In a jury trial, successfully represented a real estate investor on its claims against an international real estate firm, including by winning an award of attorneys’ fees.
- In an arbitration, successfully represented a Georgia-based skilled nursing, rehabilitation, hospice, and home health services provider against claims made by a former business partner involving the client’s nursing and therapist recruitment and staffing program.
- Successfully represented a German manufacturer and its executive in a multimillion-dollar employment discrimination and breach of contract lawsuit brought by a former employee of the company’s subsidiary. After a three-week arbitration, AGG’s clients prevailed on all claims against them, and received an award of $2.5 million plus costs.
- In a jury trial, successfully defended AGG’s client against claims arising out of a failed sale of a shopping center, including by winning a motion for directed verdict on the plaintiff’s specific performance claim. After trial, the judge awarded AGG’s client its attorney’s fees and costs.
- Counsel to a top-tier Fortune 500 company assisting with local employment and compliance matters in connection with development projects throughout the U.S.
- In a jury trial, obtained a complete defense verdict in clients’ favor on claims of hostile work environment, retaliation, constructive discharge, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
- Successfully resolved multiple putative class action lawsuits against consumer reporting agencies brought under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
